February 6, 2008 - As identity fraud and school
safety remain issues of high concern, SafeNet, Inc., a
global leader in information security, announced that it
is working with InstaPayment, Inc., to help secure and
protect the financial data and identities of parents and
school children across America.
InstaPayment, a web-based payment and financial solutions
company, selected SafeNet Protect Server Gold (PSG)
Hardware Security Module (HSM) to encrypt sensitive data
that traverses and resides on their Photo ID Smart
Card-Website-POS systems. These systems, which have been
implemented in 65 school districts nationwide, allow
students to pay for meals and other school purchases using
their school photo ID smart card.
From a home PC or laptop, parents can transfer funds to
their child's ID card and view their child's purchase
history. They can also access and specify information such
as contact numbers, child medical alerts, or other
details. InstaPayment's system also includes mass
broadcast student/parent alert software which enables
school officials to immediately and simultaneously notify
all parents of any school emergencies.
SafeNet PSG acts as a cryptographic subsystem, encrypting
credit card numbers and online financial transactions,
storing public keys, and safe-guarding the information of
parent's and children that utilize the smart card system.
SafeNet PSG provides a wide range of cryptographic
services including high-speed encryption, user and data
authentication, message integrity, as well as secure key
storage and key management for e-Commerce. SafeNet PSG is
easy to manage and was installed in InstaPayment's system
in only one day.
FIPS 140-2 and Level 3 validated, SafeNet PSG has a 64-bit
PCI interface, 4MB secure storage capacity, and a
dedicated cryptographic processor, all of which provide
high speed cryptographic operations, large storage and
fast transaction speeds.
